Opalised wood & palladium silver earrings
$295.00This awesome and rare form of boulder opal is a type of wood fossil that has been replaced with precious opal... commonly just called ‘opalised wood’.
These opals were mined at the Koroit opal field is South West Queensland, Australia.
Because the ironstone/sandstone matrix of these opals is so hard, I make these earrings by drilling a hole in the top (approx. 3mm deep), and gluing a twisted post into the stone... so they are stuck in there very well.
Another advantage of this setting method is that it keeps the weight of the earrings down, so you can wear relatively ‘large’ opal earrings without them weighing your ears down.
The earring post has been made with palladium silver, so they are not only tarnish resistant, but also hypoallergenic. They are a top quality set of earrings.
If you have any more questions about these earrings, please feel free to message or call anytime...
